I started photography in about 2000 in Melbourne, but it took a few years till I got my eye, and started to develop my style.
Walking the streets of Melbourne in the early 2000’s, shooting film, was a good way to learn the light, observe the people, it was a much different scene to todays hectic pace.
I worked for the suburban news papers, and the daily’s as a freelancer, but it wasn’t my scene, street photography, documentary, portraiture, was where my passion was, doing things for my self.
I prefer to do longer term projects and series, taking anywhere from a few months to many years, and showing and exhibiting my work, in various forms each year.
I have exhibited since 2000, with over 5 solo exhibitions in Australia, and New Zealand, and group exhibitions in China, the USA, and Europe.
My work has been featured on ABC television Melbourne, Nine network nationally, SBS -T.V. radio national in New Zealand, shown several times in the Aukland International Photofestival projections, featured in Lens Culture, and in print publications Australia and internationally.
I started the slide shows in the 2000’s for Arts and Media Union in Melbourne, and showed work at the Walkley’s projections festival in Sydney.
On top of this, I did a couple of stints of study at Northern Met TAFE college, and worked for a short time, as a commercial photography assistant. Why not try everything???
Collections of my work are held by the National Library of Australia, Canberra. The National War Memorial ACT, and the multicultural centre Melbourne, as well as private collections.
I look for the light, shadow, and the people in an image, and tend to observe more, rather than shoot too much.
I have been a member of the Videre collective, Sydney Australia, since 2019.
